10 A.M. The smell of bread and pastries wafts alluringly through Teixeira’s Bakery, 184 Ferry Street, (973) 344-4902, as its bakers ply their trade in the back ovens. The specialty here is a pastel de nata (93 cents), a custard tart, nicely browned on top, that melts in your mouth and is instantly addictive. “It is the best I have ever tasted,” said the Rev. Moacir Weirich, the Brazilian pastor at the nearby St. Stephan’s Church. Also worthy are the minhotas ($1.30), puff pastries with walnuts and powdered sugar.
